I was reading 'Unintended Consequences' by John Ross the other day, and there was some mention of the many different sanctioning bodies for the shooting sports and the number of members they each had. The novel was published in 1996 so the information (assuming it was accurate at the time) is probably out of date now, and wasn't a complete list anyway. So, I was wondering if there was a complete list of sanctioning bodies for the shooting sports, and if so does anyone know where I can find it?

If not why not compile one. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is the SASS which does Cowboy Action matches. They have about 75,000 members according to their website.

Any others?

USPSA is the governing body for IPSC/USPSA shooting sports in the US.
IDPA covers its own game.
USA Shooting oversees the Olympic shooting sports along with a few other games that aren't in the Olympics.
FCSA covers the .50 BMG shooting matches.
NRA covers most of the traditional sports including Bullseye and High Power.

For further info, take a look at the "What's your game?" thread stuck at the top of the Competition forum.
