I’m trying to develop a new 9mm load using BE-86 and a 147 gr coated bullet. I can’t find any load data for a lead/coated 147 gr bullet. At Alliant’s website, the 124 gr JHP is 5.9gr while the 125 gr Lead RN is 5.7 gr.

I’m planning on using 0.2 grains below the max load of 4.7 grains of BE-96 for the 147 gr FP for my max load.

Is my plan sound, or am I missing something? Has anyone else loaded 147 gr lead or coated bullets with BE-86? I’ve tried the search tools, both Google and THR’s and was not able to find anything. Any feedback or suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks

I would probably load on the cautious side and start at 4.0 gr while working up .02 gr at time and watching my chronograph numbers, groups and looking for the classic signs of over pressure.
