My friend has a Savage 110 BA Stealth in 338 Lapua that needs sighting in.

I have access to land suitable for shooting rifles at long range.

I also have a Chronos 1.4 high speed camera.

Lets work our way up to 38,000 FPS.

Not often you get to see a rifle in recoil before the bullet exits the muzzle.

Hope you all enjoy.

Very cool! It always amazes me at how much the metal pieces flex under recoil, including a barrel, though not so much in this case. Check out that picatinny rail over the barrel. It just goes to show you, no matter how solid a piece feels, there are forces stronger.

Great video. Good visual for the never ending people always regurgitating the incorrect assumption that the bullet leaves the muzzle before the gun recoils.

Fooled me at first glance at the thread title, also..... But that sure was enjoyable and interesting. Thanks for posting it. I'm another one that loves to check out some slo-mo action.

There's a rifle/cartridge combo that shoots in excess of seven miles per second? The impact alone would be akin to a tiny nuke.
