Is the current production Savage 110 Ultralight in 308 winchester a long or short action rifle? I always thought the 110 was long action and 10 was short action. But I am seeing 1 piece picatinny rails that come in both long and short action lengths.

Savage has changed their numbering system and it is confusing. At one time they only used 3 digit numbers for all of their rifles, then 2 digits for short actions and 3 digits for long actions. Today they seem to have a mix of both. Most of them now have 3 digit numbers regardless of short or long action. Yet, some rifles show up on their website with 2 digit numbers.

I'm fairly certain anything in 308 is going to be short action.

I figured when Savage called it a 110, that meant it was long action, but what confuses me is seeing long and short action rails for the 110 in 308.

Does large or small barrel shank fit into the numbering? I have one of the savage stryker bolt action pistols in 22-250. It uses a small shank 110 series barrel cut at 14". Its model number is 516.

Yeah, they're going back to 3 digit naming conventions again.

In an attempt to make it less confusing, they've made it worse.

It should be a short action, my 110 varmint 223 is.

You can use a tape measure/calipers to verify.

I thought the Army/Remington was the only ones silly enough to put 308 Win in a long action...
