I would strip and refinish. They were never very well done even from the factory, was considered a "Matt" finish. So that would be fairly easy to do.
Value, is harder to evaluate. What letter designate is it (A, C, T ) example 24c for the Camper Version ? What Ga/cal, are the rear sights intact? On the new Stock is the orig butt plate and grip cap there? Does the safety work (notorious for broke or loose safeties) * I keep many new never fitted safeties in the shop here just because of this*?
In a VGC - 22mag/20 ga - approx value is $250 with the refinished stocks.
In VGC - 22lr / 410ga - approx value $300 with refinished stocks.
Auctions are truly the luck of the draw as to hope for the right person at the right time that wants that exact piece, in that, I have seen model 24c's go for $500 and as low as $135.
You can go to gunbroker.com and check what ythey are really selling for. Keep in mind condition and how many bids or bidders, Do not worry about the high value ones that are not selling, only pay attention to the ones selling or sold.
