I picked up a Savage Cub Mini youth rifle, single shot .22, to teach my grand -nephew on, and was quite pleased with how it was put together, felt, looked, etc. Got it sighted in and waited for his first visit. In the 20 rounds I fired, no problems.
Disappointment when he tried it, cause he kept 'locking' the thing up, the trigger would freeze. Cycling the action would free it up. At first I thought he was putting sideways pressure on the accu-trigger insert (whatever it is called), and I was lecturing him about squeezing it straight back, but then I tried it, same result. The insert would go back just so far and then the whole thing freeze up.
I think I will be taking this one back to the dealer, trade it for another, but just wondered if there are any ideas as to what was going on, what to do about it, etc???

You might go over to savageshooters.com and ask the same question there.

Sorry, but I am no help as I haven't had any dealings with the accu-trigger. My 10FP has the standard trigger that I like very much.

I have a couple of Savage Acu-triggers, one in 22LR and the other in .223. Both work flawlessly. You may have gotten a lemon (eveyrone makes them) but I would take it apart like Savage recommends, make sure there's no foreign material jamming the innards, and if not, then take it back to the dealer. You will not be disapointed with the feel and response of the trigger. It's a phenominal piece of engineering and I am sure a variant of it will begin appearing on a lot of other manufacturers gons in the near future.

Try cleaning it first. Mine's run flawlessly for hundreds of rounds, and I like it a lot.
