I have a question about reloading for a Savage Model 99 with the brass rotary magazine in the 300 Savage cal.
I see RCBS offers both regular 300 Savage dies and also offer Short Base Dies in 300 Savage. Do I need to use the Short Base Dies to reload for this rifle or will the regular 300 Savage dies work?
Thanking all in advance for providing information.

I reload for a Savage '99, brass rotor inside. All I've got for my reloading is the standard .300 Savage dies, they didn't have the other you'd mentioned when I bought mine. You'll do alright with the standard dies, mine still shoots great, was my Pop's rifle, given to him by my Mom in 1947. Enjoy.

I believe you mean "small base" dies and not short base. Standard full length should work out just fine and give you long brass life.

I had to use small base dies in my Savage 99.brass sized in standard dies woulden't chamber in my .308 model 99 c . hdbiker

Short base dies are designed to properly size brass for use in semi auto rifles such as The Remington 88.
You should not need them for your Savage, standard full length sizer should work fine.
Short base dies work the brass harder and can cause premature case death. Don't use them if you don't have to.
