I've recently acquired a old-ish Savage 112 single shot target rifle, chambered in 22-250. What I did not realize when I bought it was that the action screw spacing for these is unique, and does not use the staggered-feed or center-feed short / long action spacings with which I am familiar.

I'd like to restock the rifle if I can. The action screw spacing is proving to be a problem. I've emailed Boyds, for example, and they flat stated that they offered no stock that would fit. I have to believe that I'm not the first person to want to re-stock a Savage single-shot (pre-Target) action.

Anyone have any suggestions?

The only things I can suggest is contacting some of the custom stock makers and see what they would charge to make one. Or see if Boyd's will sell a stock that hasn't been inletted and look for a stock maker in your area that would inlet it for your action. I doubt there is a drop in stock for that action.

Sharp shooter supply can make one for you with the right screw spacing

Or you could just buy whatever you want and install pilars in the stock in the correct locations.

This is my home made savage single shot 6.5x285. It started as a 223 BVSS with a blind mag. I tig welded a filler plate into the mag opening on the receiver, made a new rear pillar, filled in the magazine box in the stock with bondo and then glass bedded over the top of that with devcon and finger grooved the stock.

Ah! In looking at the SSS web site, it looks like it may be a 'first gen' action screw spacing. That's helpful - thanks.
