schmidt rubin model 1911

hey just got a schmidt rubin today in 7.5x55 anyone with any experience with this rifle i have had a K31 and loved but had to sell it after falling on hard times. The rifle is in great shape all matching numbers beautiful bright bore with great rifling and no import mark that i can find anywhere.

The only bad part is someone cut the stock down..anyway info from anyone with shooting time behind what i think is a great rifle...

Congratulations, I'd love to add a 1911 along with my k31's but they are rare around here and pretty pricey. Too bad Bubba got ahold of it but it should be an awesome shooter. Check out www.swissrifles.com there is great info there on all things swiss.

My favorite load duplicates a popular .308 Winchester load, right down to the same Sierra 168gr MatchKing. If you cannot find Norma, Hornady, or Graf & Sons 7.5x55 Swiss brass, you can resize .284 Winchester brass as a suitable substitute.

Did you get the carbine version or the full length rifle of the 1911?

Heres my model 1911.

That rifle is so damn well balanced and a beauty to shoot. Dated 1917s and with the added bonus of no importers marks.

Thanks too all for the feedback i got the long rifle just wish bubba hadn't cut down the stock what about replacing it do you know where i can pick one up at.
it would be so nice with standard size stock on it.

Do you all know what it might be worth i trade a savage synthetic stocked 17 HMR for it plus $80.00 dont think i did bad infact think i got the better deal..

Numrich have them but are kind of costly at $97 a full length 1911 stock.

Springfield Sporters might have one in stock. They keep parts for M1911s.

Then you occasionally see them for auction but requires lots of looking for usually $50-80 or so but not so easy to find as they used to be a while back. Kind of weird that the rifle used to only cost a $100 not so many years ago but with the K31s flooding the market, the flood of gp11 ammo and the rarity of the 1911 nowadays their price is starting to really go up when people see what beauties the schmidt rubins are.

The M1911 (including the 96/11) is one of the greatest military rifles EVER MADE. It's on par with the best Mauser 98 in terms of toughness and exceeds all but the best Swede '96 in accuracy. The US military has sadly never had a rifle as good. But then again neither have most nations. It's a work of art, to boot. Hold on to it tight! I got mine for under two bills and let it go. Now they run a whole lot more than that.
