School Principal Accused Of Pulling Gun On Teacher

A principal did not show up for the first day of school today, because he is accused of pulling a gun on a teacher on Saturday.

Principal Ronald Major and some teachers were at the Applied Technology School in Miami preparing for the first day of classes.

The teacher said that while near an elevator in the main lobby of the school, Major pointed a gun at him and said, "This is what I do to people who give me a hard time."

According to the police report, the teacher put his hands in the air and backed up several steps as Major put the gun back in his waistband. The teacher told police that he was in fear for his life.

Police said Major was carrying a loaded .38-caliber five-shot chrome Rossi revolver.

Major admitted to Local 10 News that he did bring a gun on campus, but he gave a different explanation as to why.

"For the safety of myself coming early in the morning and late afternoon. That's why I had the gun," Major said.

According to the school board, Major has been reassigned to a regional office while the incident is investigated.

Major does have a concealed weapon permit, but he is charged with possessing a firearm on schools grounds and aggravated assault with a firearm.

Aggravated assault? He didn't "pull it" on the teacher; he just used poor judgement in displaying what should have been a concealed weapon. And in a public school. :banghead:

Aggravated assault? He didn't "pull it" on the teacher

The teacher said that while near an elevator in the main lobby of the school, Major pointed a gun at him and said, "This is what I do to people who give me a hard time."

What part of pointing a gun at him and threatening him did you miss?

^What part of "For the safety of myself coming early in the morning and late afternoon. That's why I had the gun," Major said. did you miss?

For a lot of antis, all one has to do is display a gun and it's said to have been "pointed at me." Obviously, I'm interpreting the situation, with justification I believe.

Web,

I don't have a problem with a ccw holder carrying on school property.

However, if he had pointed it at me and said those words, I would have probably been looking for cover and going for my own.

No one has the right to point a gun at someone in fun.

No one has the right to threaten someone with harm.

If this is how smart this idiot is, he should not be around children and he should not have a license to carry a gun. I am not even too sure he should own a gun.

This will probably get him fired. I won't cry for him. I just hope the teacher he threatened isn't having nightmares and calling lawyers.

If he had kept it concealed the teacher would have never known it was there.

in my experience there are alot of strange administrators. Of course, there are also alot of far left wing rabidly anti-gun teachers, so I can totally believe he just showed it, thinking it was a joke, and the teacher turned it into "he pointed it at me and I was afraid for my life". Regardless, even showing it was incredibly stupid, and if he gets off with only losing his job he'll probably be lucky. As far as it being illegal for him to have it on school grounds--I believe you CAN have a gun on school grounds if you have the permission of an administrator--and obviously he's an administrator--so that part probably won't stick.

Hell, we used to have a rifle team and a shooting range with guns and ammo stored right at the school. In fact, you could bring your own gun to use if you wanted. Times have certainly changed... :(

Fear for his live????

How does any one that fears for his life can name the make, caliber and shots, of a gun that is pointed at him?

huh? Do some of you guys even read the posted article? The police gave the make and model, not the "victim". I suspect there is more backstory between these 2 men than the article is giving though.

Wilfully obtuse

"Aggravated assault? He didn't "pull it" on the teacher..."

Try actually READING the article before ranting about it. Once again:

"Major pointed a gun at him and said, "This is what I do to people who give me a hard time."

There is NOTHING "misleading" in the headline.

On to your other misstatement:

"What part of "For the safety of myself coming early in the morning and late afternoon. That's why I had the gun," Major said. did you miss?"

What part of "irrevelevant" do you not comprehend? Carrying the gun is not the issue; POINTING it at someone IS.

Your transparent attempts to rationalize irresponsible behavior are almost as thoughtless as your hero pistolero's action. :scrutiny:

Relax everybody. I think the point of contention here is did the principal actually point the gun at the guy or did the guy just freak out at the sight of a gun and say the principal pointed the gun at him. See the difference? Of course we weren't there and this is all just speculation.
