Have a Remington 700 .243 I'm mounting a Leupold VIII 50mm on with Quick Release Scope Rings. Any reason to use the 1-piece over the 2-piece mount? I'm leaning toward the 2-piece to improve access to the chamber. TIA.

I always preferred the one piece bases on my rifles, both Rem 700's and Win M70's. Hoped to gain at least some small extra stiffness over the action cutout area. NEVER had any problem with shell loading, ejection, etc. in any caliber including .222, .243/6mm, .257, .270, .284/7mm, .30, and .338.

Good shooting and be safe.

I also have Rem 700 .308 5r stainless

One piece base , no problems at all, always zeroed ejects perfectly
I would only use one piece base, maybe 2 piece on a light cal
