Got a little flattop AR in .223, I want a mid power scope. Something around 2-5x and easy to use- not finicky about eye relief, etc. This is an accurate rifle, but I don't envision taking more than 300 yd shots. (our local range is 200) The $$$ "tactical scopes are too rich for me. Would like to spend in the $200 to 400 range. Is the Leopould 1.5x5 or 2x7 a good solid scope? Thanks, any suggestions from you riflemen would be very appreciated.

yes, they are good scopes, and a 2-7x would be right up your alley.

another scope to look into is the cabela's alaskan guide series.

Yes, and you might look at what Leupold calls their "SPR" scope.

And consider a LaRue mount while you are at it...

:D

I hear what you are saying about the price of some of the tactical scopes out there. $$$$$
Leupold is a very nice choice
