Saw this pic from the Russian school hostage coverage on CNN. Never seen a mount like that on an SKS... has anybody here?

edited to add: Sorry, just noticed this other thread:

But my question still stands (and I didn't see it answered over there)... anybody ever come across a mount like this?

Ease up
Nobody has claimed that the weaponry used is more important than the event but you.

This is a firearms forum. How odd is it that people here are interested in the guns and tactics used in the standoff.

This awful attack happens and the most important thing you people can find in it is what types of guns people are using.
No, not the most important thing. Not by a long shot (no pun intended). But since this is a rifle forum, the discussion was about a rifle. Go figure.

What happened in Beslan is inhuman. I weep for the kids that were killed and terrorized, and I hugged my own a little tighter when I picked 'em up from school. And yet, as a SKS owner, I was also interested in the scope mount shown in the CNN picture.

Why should these be mutually exclusive feelings?

oh boy, this is going to get ugly I bet.

This is a gun forum, it should be accepted we would discuss the weaponry involved in a conflict.
We can all agree the terrorists have commited yet another act that is so barbaric, inhumane, and evil, absolutely evil, that anyone not aaffected by it... well there is simply something wrong with them.

We are all affected, we all mourn, we cry, we curse, we get angry.
But don't come here and say just because we have an interest in something like what kind of rifle, or scope, or for that matter...

well crap, I am rambling, as I am very emotional right now.

The Grand Inquisitor, if you are trolling, take it elsewhere, if you are just emotional and lashed out, it is understandle, once you cool off an appology would be nice, or we can just agree to disagree, one hurting gun lover to another.

Most important...no

But, I feel that such discussions are valid so that we can be better prepared to 'put down' animalistic beings such as those that committed those atrocities. God forbid something like that happens here. I would want to hunt down and slaughter those responsible and those with similar beliefs. If the government military won't do it, the people should.:fire:
