Scout rifle Build questions

First off I have multiple choices for a base, Marlin 336 30-30 Win, Marlin 1894c .357 mag, Marlin 1894 44 mag and an Ishapore 2A in 308.
All are currently in my Gun Safe and acquiring one is not an issue.
I'm leaning toward the Ishapore for the following reasons,
First it is in a Caliber Col. Cooper recommended for the build.
Second I have multiple copies including a stripped receiver to build from so if I don't like the end product I'm not screwing up a good rifle, I will still have one stock untouched if I do this.
Lastly I am kind of new to the whole Scout Rifle platform so tinkering with the Ishy is a relatively inexpensive platform to start from, I got both that I own for less than $200.00 and the receiver for less than $100.00.
Is this sound logic to anyone else? or am I missing something

The logic sounds good. The only other thing I will point out is for you to price out how much the individual parts will cost to make a scout out of it. It might be cheaper to just go an purchase a Ruger Gunsite Scout model.

A few years ago, I converted my Mossberg 590 shotgun to a Mossberg 590A1 shotgun. It cost me more to do the conversion than if I would have sold the 590 and just purchased a 590A1.

90 dollar K-98 FN in 7.62x51 (Israeli rebarrel) 125 dollar Bushnell 2-6 trophy pistol scope, B-Square retrofitted mount, (forgot the cost) 50 bucks for Timney trigger, made it up about 25 years ago. Made a poor boy aperture rear sight with front blade at end of mount

A tack driver (also with heavy HC GC boolits) and couldn't be more happy with it.

I'd go with the Ishy. I've built two Scout rifles and they're both .308's. You could use one of the other rifles, but they wouldn't by definition be Scout rifles...they'd just be lever actions with scopes mounted on the barrels.

Yes, they would be faster, but there's nothing in the definition of a Scout rifle that mentions speed. Accuracy parameters, yes. Maximum effective range, yes. The Enfield, if even reasonably accurate, should beat any of the levers mentioned and are heads and tails above the mentioned levers with regard to maximum effective range. But if you prefer a lever, by all means go for it.

Cooper said it was the lever rifles which gave him much inspiration for the scout rifle concept.

Would think a magazine fed BLR in .308 would be an excellent choice and a Savage 99 not bad either.

well,he has a 308 ishy receiver,he is in like flynn here.get a 5r 11.25 16-19 inch barrel cut to desired taper.he can use a ramline/ati plastic stock with a forward mounted scope mount from http://www.xssights.com/index.php?nID=scopemounts&cID=Scope Mounts&pID=scopemounts
