on, but kinda off topic, the is a movie that the new James Bond actor was in, called Layer Cake (a brit gangster flick)... really good film, and some pretty cool gun stuff in it (Mr. OBrien, from Deep Space Nine, plays a gangster in it who equips the other guy with one of those integrally silenced .32 pistols when he learns his head is on the chopping block)...

"gun, a Walther, I think"
Right. A walther air pistol

Ian Flemming was also extremely anti-gun. He mentioned that in a Playboy interview in the late 60s. He was complaining about all the people who complained about the 25 auto because of its low power. "..gun nuts. They really are nuts, you know." He switch over when Major Boothrod convinced him that a .32 was massively powerful.

In the "real" Bond books (those by Ian Fleming) he uses a Centennial Airweight and various Colts - Police Positive, Detective Special and Army Special, and a "long-barrelled 45" as well as the ubiquitous Beretta 418 and Walther PPK. For long guns he uses a Savage 99F, a Winchester 308 of some kind and of course the exquisite AR-7 from his trusty briefcase.

-I forgot about the shrouded-hammer S&W, also issued at the same time in the book as the PPK.

-I had no idea that Major Boothroyd (Q) was based on a real person! :what:

Here's a great resource I found this morning: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_James_Bond_firearms

(looks like I was mistaken, he used an older FN, not Beretta, in License Renewed)

But still no reference to the airgun used in so many promo shots on there...! :p
