Seen Alliant Powder at LGS. Ouch!

I stopped into a gun shop that's part of a chain of stores, mostly in Ohio.

They had several of Alliant powders on the shelf. Alliant seems usually to be the hardest to obtain in these droughts.

But the horror began when I realized the 1# bottles were priced at $50+. And some 5# jugs were over $200.

To compare, there was a 8 lb. jug of HP-38 priced at $214. And I ended up buying the last 1# of H335 for about $34 OTD.

I'm not accusing the LGs of gouging. I could imagine that they had to pay a premium to get that brand. But at over $15 difference per pound, I'll settle for the Hodgdon.

Has anyone seen similar price difference?

I vowed never to set foot in there again after watching them roll cases of primers out, take the bricks out and slap a $17-100 price tag on the 100pc packs. I vowed not to go back when they closed down due to covid and opened back up with everything 30-50% marked up. An employee said they closed down to re price everything. The primer deal was the last straw.

I did break down and go there today because I am looking for 22 match ammo and wanted to see if they had a certain powder for my brother. H335-$35lb. H322-almost $50-lbs and I paid $11 for 100 cci 400. $120 for bricks of 22 also.

I don’t doubt they are charging more due to them being charged more but some stuff doesn’t make sense. They pulled some crap before gun season. No straight walled ammo until 2 weeks before and they wanted $50-70 for a 20rd box that used to be $30

Yes, Fins. I honestly don't know what to think of it all. I do know that pre-Corona, their pricing was competitive with even Powder Valley, without haz-mat.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. When things settle down, I'd hope that they will reflect that.

I can't find them online, but if they have everything in stock and only take Zelle, Venmo, Cashapp, etc, they are a scam. I did find two more scam sites while looking for them. Reloaders Shop and IMR Reloading Shop

Reloaders Shop is the one I was referring to.

I only use credit cards.

We had a mega thread when BE-86 was initially released back in 2014 and numerous other threads since - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/be-86.760289/

So I do not consider BE-86 to be a "new" or "unknown" powder anymore.

As many already found out, I consider BE-86 to be the modern Unique that meters well and produces accuracy in many calibers.

And for many calibers, BE-86 produces higher velocities well suited for duplicate/practice factory JHP ammunition - https://reloadingdata.speer.com/downloads/speer/reloading-pdfs/handgun/40_SmithWesson_180.pdf

Has it been tested in shotgun and rifle to perform along the same lines as Unique?

Versatility is an exceptionally valuable property.
 
Yep. Stopped in at the LGS a few weeks ago to do transfer paperwork and noticed a few cans of 2400. Got real excited until I put on my glasses and saw the $60 price tags. When I went back for my rifle after the ten day waiting period I noticed that the same number of cans were still on the shelf. I figure that's good news, so am just going to wait for the price to come back down to earth.
