Sellier and Bellot buckshot HD loads?

Any opinions about this stuff? It sells for less than $10 per box of 25 at Cheaper than Dirt....

Sellier and Bellot 12 gauge non-corrosive plastic hulls. This is a box of 25 rounds. Case is 10 boxes of 25-rounds each for 250 round case. 2-3/4", loaded with 12 lead pellets "00" Buck, this ammo will not function in

i fired a box of it through my 870. Didnt have any issues, it went bang.

I buy S&B buckshot in boxes of 10 at local gunshows for
$4.00 -- plastic case, roll crimp with over shot plastic wad,
12 #00 shot, 2 3/4 inch (70mm) case (unrolled).
It works well in H&R singeshot, Baikal double, S&W
pump, Mossberg 500.

Seems to be a good load. (Considering the price excellant).

It goes bang.

It isn't buffered, and only has a felt wad behind the buckshot to cushion it. There is no shot cup to protect it from contacting the bore and the lead is soft, so patterns are less than stellar.

I have fired a case or two of them. Nicely made ammo, feeds and functions well in all my guns.

Only comment/complaint I can offer is that they seem to be loaded lighter than some other brands of 00Buck. Might be my imagination but I think they kick less and have less penetration.

Cut down a 6"dia tree last time out (with the owners permission!) Took 12 shots and many pellets stayed in the tree to be plucked out of the cut after it finally fell.

If they indeed are loaded a bit light, it might be advantageous for home defense. Less kick, less potential for unintended penetration of excessive interior and exterior walls and I doubt a badguy would really notice a lot of difference if hit.

As mentioned it goes bang and works well. I wouldn't call it a bad choice. The pattern on it is terrible (it spreads very fast), but that won't matter at across-the-room distance. The roll crimp on the top makes the ammo a little longer than normal, I can only fit 6 rather than 7 in the tube of my M500. The unplated lead shot leaves a lot of deposits too, so you may need some extra cleaning time if you use it for practice. Overall, still worth it for the cost!

I use it, and it works. Mine is #4 Buck.
