I just came back from the rifle range & I'm quite impressed by the accuracy and consistency of my groups, using the Czech ammo.
Fired 50 rounds in my HBAR Oly 20" bbl with a Colt 4X20 scope.
All shots were nicely within less than 2" at 100 meters.
By comparison PMP ammo will group 3" at the same distance.

Can someone tell me if this ammo is 100% safe.
It's conditioned by 140 rds in a 6" X 3.5" X 2.5" box.
The marking is:
223 Remington (5,56 X 45mm)
Bullet: type FMJ No 2903/M193
Weight 3,6g 55grs
Primers 4,4 Boxer
Non corrosive, non erosive
No of series : I 258 - 62
SELLIER & BELLOT
258 13 Vlasm, Czech Republic
Headstamp is: S&B .223 REM

Can I safely reload this ammo, I heard that their shells have thinner walls than normal ones.

A friend of mine gave me a box of 5.56 mm ammo which I identified as yugo made.
Wondering if this ammo is accurate and hot, in other words if it's milspec.
Marking is as follows:
20 PCS
CARTRIDGES
CAL. 5.56mm
BALL M193
LOT No 02 II-1990
Headstamp is: IK 223R
Are they reloadable?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

The Sellier and Bellot is safe to fire.

I have almost 2000 rounds of it through my Bushmaster without any problems. My local gun store buys it buy the pallet load for the AR shooters in the area. Probably 35000 rounds a year go down range at the local Rod and Gun club and nobody has had any problems.

Yes it is safe to reload, and no the case walls are not thin. Whoever said so has an axe to grind. S&B brass is some of the "sweetest" brass for reloading you're going to find. I've seen S&B cases that have been reloaded 11 times without any signs of wear.

I can't comment on the Yugo ammo, as I've never even seen or heard of it.

Thanx marineTech for your advice, I'll go ahead and buy 10 of those 140 round boxes now that my mind is in peace.

I have a small supply of S&B 9mm JHP. I used to have some FMJ stuff too, but it is all gone. I have found it to be very good, consistent ammo, and the 9mm is loaded like it should be instead of some of the downloaded American stuff.
I have been thinking about trying some of their rifle ammo, possibly 8mm if they make it.

As far as this Yugo ammo that you have, you would need to know two things:
1. Is it boxer primed?
2. Is it brass cased?
To see whether it is boxer primed, look into a fired case and see how many flash holes it has. If it has two, it isn't reloadable. If it has one hole, and is brass cased, it is reloadable.
I don't know if there was ever any corrosive 5.56mm ammo made, but I would watch out when shooting any ammo that was made in a foreign country unless I knew what I had.

Goon,

The yugo ammo made by Igman has brass case and is boxer primed, it also has a very large orange waterproof seal around the primer.
Don't know if it's corrosive though.
For the time being I would just keep the 20 round box aside for my display collection pending further investigation.

Actually I have thousands of 9mm rounds thus don't need to buy more but when this stock will get low I'll try the Sellier & bellot stuff.
Anyway thanks for the kind reply.

I don't know if .223 is the same as the .303 S&B I shoot, but if it is, I had to swage the primer pocket on the brass to get primers to fit - other than that it's exceptionally good brass.
