I have a friend who is moving and has a Sentry gun safe he wants to sell. Probably a 20 gun safe.
This would not be my primary safe as I already have one. Probably use it for ammo and less valuable guns. He’s asking $300. Any opinions on this safe? I know this is not top of the line but should provide some security.

Is it an actual safe or just a metal box? If its a safe go for it. Just know the electronic lock can fail.

Model number would likely help form opinions here.

It's probably what is known in the trade as an RSC (Residential Security Container), and those can be a pig in a poke. Just heavy enough to be a giant pain to move, good enough to be worth the effort.

$300 suggests that it's going to be booger to move. Don't forget that you'll need a way to get from that house to your house, too. And, while going up or down steps with a 600-800# RSC is exciting, often that 18-24'' lift onto (and off) a trailer is the killer.

Thanks for the reply. The safe I have weighs about 500 pounds. I don’t have any steps and I have a truck to transport it. I don’t think this weighs more than what I have so moving it shouldn’t be a problem. I was wondering if there are any issues like with the lock or anything else that I should be aware of. It looks like an older Sentry.

Had one once, it had a gold toned Sargent and Greenleaf dial combination. The safe was built and insulated well enough, it's shortcoming was the fixed combination, wasn't resettable. Would imagine the ex-spouse still has it, anyone want the combination? Ok, so I'm not really gonna give it out, but I think you get the drift.
