Service class compliance question

Just looking at it, no, it's not going to fly as a Service Rifle. You need a standard A2 or A4-type receiver.

Basically what you need for a Service Rifle rifle is a White Oak upper and an A2-style lower with a good 2-stage trigger (of no less than 4.5 lb pull weight).

Good to know guys, thanks a lot for the input!

Since I have this thread started, I might as well ask - what about a BCM gunfighter charging handle? That one is less critical because I could swap charging handles in 10 seconds if I were going to shoot in a match.

Here's the link to the NRA Highpower Rules. The short version is that just about anything that is considered an "enhancement" to the standard M-16A2 is not legal per the rules. This includes the anti-walk trigger pins, ambi-safeties, extended/enhanced charging handles, other than A2 or A1 pistol grips, railed forends, etc.

Basically what you end up with for a Service Rifle AR is a free-float handguard tube over a .223 Wylde-chambered stainless match barrel (20" only). The sights aren't terribly different from standard issue unless you get a hooded rear aperture. The trigger can be no less than 4.5 pounds, and that pretty much covers the major alterations from an "issue" M-16/AR-15A2.

upper

I think you can use an A3 flat top upper with a carry handle attached A2 sights.
I'm currently putting together such an upper combo. I'll have a BM A2 used very little for sale soon.
