I was wondering of any one could help me put together a list of which make/model revolvers were issued by which SPECIFIC police departments.

Prior to adopting the Beretta M92, SFPD permitted all types of S&W revolvers. Back in the '60s, they even allowed the .41 Magnum to be carried on duty. Today they're carrying a Sig-Sauer in 40 S&W.

The San Francisco Sheriff's Department allowed all types of revolvers, but issued the Model 15 or Model 67. Today they're issuing Glocks.

NYPD carried Colt Police Positive.

I think LAPD carried S&W Model 19 revolvers. The single action notch on the hammer was ground off to prevent the gun being used in the single action mode.

Punxsutawney, PA carried a mixture of Colt Official Police and S&W Model 10 .38 specials which had been purchased piecemeal over a period of decades. In the late 1970's they switched to Ruger Service Sixes in .357 which they carried loaded with .38 spl +P loads. These were the last revolvers used by that department as they switched to 1911's in the early 80's.

What? Every gun used by every department in every city and county in every state over the past 100 years or so?

Let me check my top desk drawer... Nope, sorry, don't have that information handy.

In Australia:
New South Wales Police: S&W Model 10 three inch barrel.
Tasmanian Police S&W Model 36 Three inch barrel.
Victiorian Police: S&W Model 64 4 inch Barrel (Could be wrong, going off old memory). I'm not sure of the others.

Ruger Service Sixes in 38 Special - Border Patrol (38 +P+), NYPD, USMC to name a few…

In “Ruger and his guns” there is a partial, but ample list of departments that use the six series.

Can you refine your question a bit, every department in the US would be a Herculean task. Here in Indianapolis the S&W model 66 4 inch was the standard issue up until about 12 years ago when the Glock .40 was issued as a replacement, but you have smaller departments giving the individual Officer options to buy their own weapon with multiple choices. I personally opted to carry a S&W model 25 in .45 Colt and my Chief carried a S&W .45 auto.

In Athens Ga the police officers carried literally anything they could wear on the hip though S&W or Colt .38spl ruled. The county police first used S&W M19s but both now carry Glock .40s.

Indian police officers use Ruger 'Service-Six' in .38 S&W often called .38/200.

The S&W M67 was common in municipalities in Palm Beach County, Florida, including the one I worked for my first few years. So was the 19. Not sure what the county's SO itself issued, though.
