No nonlicensee is or has ever been required to have a copy of the receiving dealers FFL. Just ship to that licensed dealers address.Do I need to send a copy of a FFL to a friend in Texas for him to send a firearm to me in Nebraska or just an FFL address to send it to so that he can do the paperwork when I pick it up?
Thanks in advance.
Nope. No federal law or ATF regulation has ever required such.Your friend will need a copy of the FFL the firearm is being shipped to
No but it helps to know it's actually going to a dealer. No nonlicensee is or has ever been required to have a copy of the receiving dealers FFL. Just ship to that licensed dealers address.
And many dealers like to have a copy of the FFL they're receiving from. Mine wants a copy of the individual's driver's license.Nope. No federal law or ATF regulation has ever required such.
"Licensees" on the other hand must have a copy of the receiving dealers FFL before we can ship a firearm.

A paper copy of the receiving dealers FFL isn't proof that the firearm is going to a licensed dealer. Photoshop is a thing. No but it helps to know it's actually going to a dealer.
As do I, but the documentation required by the receiving dealer has nothing to do with providing a copy of his FFL to a nonlicensee for shipping. And many dealers like to have a copy of the FFL they're receiving from. Mine wants a copy of the individual's driver's license.
It's the responsibility of the buyer to know his dealers policies on receiving transfers. It amazes me how often someone buys a gun, has the seller ship to me and it arrives with no documentation on buyer or seller. A mystery gun.Legally true but you should call the receiving FFL to make sure they will accept guns from non-licensees and also so they know that a gun is coming and for whom it is intended...
Sure, just tell me what they are and where they came from and hand me $60 and they are yours.Oh, I meant to come by and pick them up yesterday. Tomorrow OK?

No dealer likes doing detective work because a customer didn't think it helpful that his dealer knows about an incoming firearm.
I have three mystery guns sitting in my safe right now.
