Shipping question

I think I got some bad info today at my LGS. For the record they are a good shop and have gotten a lot of business from me and will in the future. My new ruger single six has been binding badly with the magnum cylinder and I asked them to send it to ruger for me(it was bought at bass pro and they will send it back but are 60 miles away) the woman said I could send it through the post office as long as I am sending it back to the manufacturer. This didnt sit well with me so I post the question- can you send a pistol USPS.

I believe you can ship it via UPS or Fedex. The only caveat is that it has to go "Next Day Air" , so that it'll cost $40 plus.
I'd call Ruger and tell them your problem. They may issue a call tag and therefore they'll be paying the shipping.
