This isn't my idea but i thought I would share it. The other day I made a set of shooting sticks out of a couple of old arrow shafts and a rubber band. I paid $2 for the arrow shafts (junk box at sporting goods store, could have probably gotten them free) and $1.50 for 50 rubber bands used to castrate calves. I wrapped camo tape around them just to deaden the sound if they happen to bang together. Anyway, I haven't shot off them yet but they seem to be solid. They work excellent for the sitting position but they wouldn't be much for prone or the bench. I tried sliding the rubber band down but they got pretty unstable. I figure for about 5 minutes of my time and less than $3.00 what is there to lose.

Does anybody have any other suggestions? Anybody doing anything similar?

I built a set of Bi-Fur-Pods to great effect. They are easier to use in a sitting or kneeling position however don't fool youself thinking that anything this long would work for the prone.

And I'll bet somewhere, 50 calves really appreciate your contibution. :D

Shooting sticks are something that I never used to like. Turning from one shooting angle to another was pretty clumsy and required you to move the entire gun/stick setup. I made some, and in comparison to shooting off your leg, they work great. Recently a member of another forum recommended putting some vacuum line between the two sticks. This creates a sort of sling for the gun to rest in and allows you to turn your gun more efficiently. BTW, I made my sticks out of fiberglass marker poles from Wally World for 1.50 and cut and joined them with an O-ring. I do have some arrow shafts I'm not using though, maybe I need an extra pair. :D
