17 Hmr

Little late but I like the 17HMR with CCI Game Points or CCI FMJs out to about 150.:D

My Savage doesnt like any of the colored tip stuff.

Also Hornady 20 gn HPs are good.

I used to kill cayotes with the .22lr, but then I heard a mountain lion a few hundred yards away. I use a 12ga now with 3 1/2 magnum 00Buck. Not exactly quiet, but out to 80yd, you can drop several of cayotes in one shot:D

.221 Fireball , has got'n me 25 yotes this year . Cheap to reload , no recoil . Kills good with little if any pelt damage .

Nosler B-tips
18.5 grs RL-7
Rem 7 1/2 primers

Rem700 Classic in an HS stock . Topped with a 6x Lupey .

I would avoid all rimfire rounds , just not enough poop . Been there , they do not work .

223 not enough for coyote. the round was designed as a military round to be effective at penetrating a helmet at 600yrds i'm sure it'll kill a coyote

I've cleanly killed several yotes with a .22mag. 40gr jhp, 34gr win. supreme, and the remmie 33gr vmax.

No complaints from the yotes.

The way I see it the best Varmint round around is still the 22-250 so why not use the best?

I guess the .22 Mag and .17 Mag suggestions aren't bad but those rounds are VERY loud for their size. I don't lnow how to explain it but Im sure those who have shot it know what I mean. They are different sounding and are loud rounds.

I have s**t canned lots of yotes with .308, .223, .22, and the .17hmr. I would go with the .17 hmr for your case becouse it is quiet and it hits harder than a .22 imho. If you live in a state that allows NFA get a YHM .308 QD can and an adaptor for your .308 and .223. It is more quiet than a dedicated 223 can on my AR. It sounds like a .22 with a little more bullet noise.- Art
