Son ("Joe College") was in over the weekend and we hadn't had any real range time in months (years?). Took 12 guns and ammo; .22 handguns to 6.5x55 (2) and 870 Exp 20 ga and my 12 ga 870 Exp HD. Took longer to load the truck than drive to the range. Good fun, no spetacular groups, till we broke out the shottys. I'm stocked on Remmy Slugger and 00 Buck Value packs (15rds about $6.00 at WW). 00 doesn't pattern near as well as Hornday T.A.P. which goes into about 4" @ 15 yds but the Remmy's readily avail locally and cheaper. Puts all 9 pellets well within a "palladin" silhouette. Then fired 4 slugs offhand at 15 yds, front bead only. All 4 under 2"!! Fired 4 at 50yds from a solid rest, all inside 4"! 4 at a 6" gong at 100yds, with just a front bead, a couple hits and a couple looked real close. I'm impressed and will probably start carrying the shotty in the woods a lot more!

Also, been perusing the catalogs, gotta order some real ammo; like Fed 00 w/ flite control wads, low recoil, etc. The Hornady TAP is NOTICABLY lower in recoil! I love that stuff!

Ironically, saw a bear, I think, at dusk Sunday in neighbors yd. There around but had seen one in a while. It was under the apple trees!

Stay safe.
Bob

Oh, yeah:2 liter pop bottle full of water at 15yds vs. slug! It just kinda left the scene!
