Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this question so my apologies in advance if it isn't.

I was thinking about having a gunsmith install a better re-coil pad (Limbsaver or Kick-eez) and shorten the stock (LOP) on my 12 Ga Beretta White Onyx Sporting by about 1/8"-1/4". Does this type of modification (especially cutting the stock down) typically lower the re-sale value?

Thanks!

If it is professionally done and more importantly looks professionally done then no...won't really hurt the value...this isn't really a collectible gun after all. However if it looks like a bubba job then yes, it will hurt the value.

Not for that short amount - if you were talking about an inch or two - different answer - if it makes the gun FIT you - (and before cutting anything, I would get that measured) you might like it so much you'll never sell it.

I agree that shortening (fitting) the gun to yourself should not harm resale. And I believe that having an ill fitting gun takes away a lot of the fun shooting it. Just took mine in yesterday to have it lopped off.:D Really looking forward to taking it out next weekend and see how it does now.

Limbsaver makes a prefit pad for the White Onyx, and for other current Beretta O/Us. I installed one on mine, and it slightly increased the LOP to a more comfortable length.

Try that first. We can adapt to a bit more or less length, if drop at face remains OK.

Agreed on the Geltech pads. Lots better choices out there.....

I appreciate everyone's comments. :)

Since both the Limbsaver and Kick eez will increase the LOP a little to much for me, I think I will go ahead and take the gun to a gunsmith and have everything fit and finished properly.
