I went to the S&W shooting center today and tried out a 625JM (45ACP). Loved it. I shoot USPSA matches and have been using a Taurus 357 Magnum with speed loaders. The 625 has a much nicer trigger and I actually like the wood grip better than the rubber one that comes with the Taurus. Plus, the moon clips are so much faster for reloads than speed loaders. Now I just have to find one for a good price. And start collecting brass of course.

I did notice they also had their lightweight version 325 which came with the fiber optic front sight (very nice). Can this be had for a 625 and is it legal in the USPSA?

There are lots of fiber optic front sights available for S&W revolvers, including the 625. I like the SDM Super Sight. Here's a pic of my 625 that I shoot in USPSA.

The 625JM has the same interchangable front sight setup as the "Classic" and "DX" series revolvers. I prefer gold bead fronts myself, but there are plenty of choices out there.

HERE is a red one that'll fit the 625JM, and HERE is a green one. the 0.250" high sight is the standard on N-Frames, if I'm not mistaken. It's the height I got for the gold bead front for my 629 Classic.

I bought mine hoping to get into competition locally, then realized a second child in diapers took up all of my spare time. I had to sell it recently to finance some 30 year old guns that I couldn't pass up.

Good gun, though. Love the quick switchout front sight and frosted finish. Like you, I liked the wood Jerry Miculek grips a lot. I'm thinking about getting some for my K frames. I've found them online for about $65.
