I haven't been able to play 3 gun for about a year because of a busy family life but my lovely wife encouraged me to go to yesterday's match at Rio Salado. I'm no Jerry Miculek and I'll never be placing in these things but I have a lot of fun doing it. Thought you guys might enjoy watching me fumble through one of the shotgun stages.





Oh, and for the record, shotguns suck and are for people who can't operate a rifle. I wish there were more rifle/pistol matches.
 
Nice job! Looks like a fun match. You might want to get a bandolier, or side saddle, or belt strippers.

I run 6-round sidesaddle and 6-round butt cuff, and with that plus 9 in the gun I can get through most non-dedicated-shotgun stages without fumbling around with my bandolier too much.

Here's one of the better stages I've shot. Granted it's pretty straightforward without 4 dozen targets, flying clays, slug targets, etc. Some of the shotgun match stages can get pretty crazy!

You looked good to me. Joining a trap league really helped my pump shotgun reloads. It looked like lots of fun.
 
You don't really need to stand there putzing around with the mag tube. Just grab a couple of shells and feed em in through the port. When you're moving, go ahead and stoke her back up, but standing there is kind of a waste.
 
1KPerDay, I had a butt cuff on my shotgun for a while but the elastic wore out and I ditched it. Even when they're new, they move around under recoil unless you trap part of the edge under the butt pad. I think I'll eventually get a Speedfeed stock for my Mossberg. A longer magazine tube would be nice but that means a new barrel for the Mossberg. You can't just add an extension like you can with a Remington.

In the mean time, the load two method looks like it would really speed things up for me. There are a couple more affordable carriers that hold the ammo in that orientation so I might give that a try for the next match.
