Side Mounted Scope Sight In

My Winchester Model 64 has a side mounted scope. It's about 1 inch to the left of the center of the barrel. Does anyone here with a similar situation account for this when they sight in their rifle? Beware, I was a geometry teacher...
If you're dead on at 100 yards, you'll be 1 inch off at 0 yards and 1 inch off at 200. That's fine. But I'm going to sight in at 25 yards. (Limited range options) If I hit the center at 25, at 50 yards I'm 1 inch off, 75 yards is 2 inches, 100 yards is 3 inches, etc. Think similar triangles.
So I'm thinking if I'm shooting at 25 yards, aiming at the center, I want the bullet to hit the target 1 inch to the right of center. That way, my scope line of sight and bullet trajectory should be parallel (ignoring the effect of the bullet spin at longer distances).

I'm making the 13 hour drive to MI tomorrow, so I won't be able to respond to any new posts, but I'll check back in with the virtual world sometime Monday.

I recommend sighting it in 1" left at 100 yards. This way there will constant windage offset at all distances, not switching left/right from 0 to 200 and beyond.

That's the way it's done....normally. Some will adjust for a POI at a certain yardage but the method you describe is the best way to do it. Hey, what's an inch when your plowing?!? lol hehehehe

Yeah, honestly, 3 inches right or left isn't a big deal at the ranges I generally take deer. But that's not a very sturdy assumption when working with (semi) precision. : )
