where can I purchase 200 Sierra moly coated 308 150 grain matchking bullets??
All sierra sells now is the 155 grain palma bullets. My good accurate load was worked up using 150 grain Sierra Matchkings that I had moly coated locally.

I don't think Sierra sells a factory 150 moly bullet.

If you want to add moly you can just stick a pinch of moly in a sealed jar with the bullets, and let it run in your tumbler for a couple hours.

The result will be quite good.

A sturdy plastic container, duct-taped shut, is all you need.

Per W.E.G. you will have to roll your own. You can buy Technical Grade Moly (Molybdenum Disulfide) from a number of sources. Midway Shooting Supply among other places. I would place 100 bullets in a contained and add about 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of the Moly (a little goes a very long way). Place the container in my vibratory tumbler and run for about 3 hours. Eventually I just dedicated an extra tumbler bowl to the process and skipped the small container doing larger quantities. Once complete they will look like this:

I would dump them on a clean cotton rag and wipe the excess moly off them.

Gotta ask Ron is it worth the time and investment to do it?
:) Real Good Question.

I got into this about 25 years ago when it was a popular passing fad. I scrubbed bores to prep, tried just about everything and anything associated with moly coating bullets. While it was all very amusing and time consuming what were the results? I shot them in my 308 bolt gun, my M1A and eventually my AR-10 and never noticed any appreciable difference. I even chronographed them and again, no appreciable difference. I have not bothered with the process in at least 20 plus years but it was fun. :)

The image is what is left of a box of Sierra 168 grain Match Kings. Maybe this summer, being retired, I'll try it all again. There were and are those who swear by the process. Several years ago there was a thread here with some good examples of using the small jars and moly to coat. I worked the hell out of it and never really saw anything all that exciting. The bullets do look cool though! :)

Precession Shooting which ceased publication had interesting articles on moly coating. I simply purchased a second bowl for my vibrator tumbler. I used BB's and moly to coat the bullets satisfactorily. I employed moly coated bullets with the 223 and 308 and shot my bolt guns out to 1000yds on occasion.
