My Sig 556 came with a Holo sight and I keep reading that these sights are cheap Chinese junk but nobody seems to talk about who actually makes them. My question is who makes the holographic sight that Sig includes with their rifles and are they really cheap Chinese junk?

I have an Aimpoint on my 556 right now but I was thinking of using the holo sight on one of my AK's even if its only halfway decent. However if it truly is complete junk then maybe its not worth putting it on anything.

They are cheap junk. Mine would not stay lit when I turned it on. I sold it for a few dollars.

got a link? i know sig has a red dot (I have one) but I have not seen their holo sight

Hey nwilliams, I was just in Santa Fe last week. Loved it. Great food and great museums. There is a Mexican food joint in a red building on Cerrillos just north of the Cerrillos/St. Michaels Drive (I forget the name) that is outstanding. Their cabrito was excellent. I didn't care for all the Richie Rich folks on the east side of downtown though, I stayed away from there.

Does your Sig holosight actually work well? Mine did not work well (intermittent shorting of the on/off switch) and I got rid of it. I got an Aimpoint CompC3 and a Sightron Big Sky SII 1.5x5-20mm and love them. They are world's more reliable than that Sig-branded holosight in my experience.

The SIG sight is not a holosight, its a reflex red dot, and appears to be a SIG branded version of the NcStar junk, definitely not worth the $50 extra over the rifle without it,

Reflex sights can be very good, C-More for example, and I've had good luck with the cheap tube type red dots, but none of the cheap reflex have held up longer than the battery, although I liked them while they worked.

At the moment I have an Aimpoint Comp ML2 on it instead of the holosight. I actually never used the gun with the holosight that came with it. I bought the gun brand new from my local shop for $1550 OTD and it came with the collapsible folding stock and holosight, so I don't really consider it a big loss if the holosight is junk. I was planing to put my Aimpoint on it anyway regardless, the shop just happened to get in the one that came with the holosight so I went with it.

Wow, sig sells their $1500 rifle w/ that on there? That's embarrassing. It's an actual option on a 556?
