Anybody know exactly what the new XO finish is? Sig was rather vague about it when responding to email. They called the Nitron a vapor finish. I assume they mean vapor deposition of some sort. The XO they simply said was a lower quality finish. I assume they mean in appearance.

So far I am guessing that the XO is a nitrogen hardening of some sort (Tennifer perhaps). A polycoat of some sort perhaps?

I can only comment on Nitron.

Currently Nitron is Tungsten Diamond Like Carbide finish aka T-DLC aka a-C:H:W. The process is PVD.
Under T-DLC Sigs may have Nickel

It's possible what SIG called Nitron a couple of years back was Melonite QPQ, aka Tennifer

Ok

Thanks!

Each time I ask SIG, they're more interested in telling me which one looks better.

From what they describe, the XO sounds very much like a polycoat.

they won't tell you (SiG/Sauer) and it has been called many things...no one seems to know for sure but the prevailing thought is what was mentioned above...lately SiG seems to have had some trouble with their Nitron'd CPO pistols but my GSR Revolution STX (with Nitron slide) looks as nice today as when it was made a year ago...I take care of my weapons (...'cause they may have to take care of me) but carry it for duty...when you can find the XO's (discontinued) they are a nice bargain on a very well made pistol!
