I just bought a Sig P220 Carry equinox and went to shoot it on Sunday it shoots great by the way, I was asked if my gun was +P rated corbon makes some hollow points that are +p rated and the gun must be plus P rated to fire them, my question's are what is +P suposidly some sort of hotter load?? and does anyone know if Sig's are +P?

I have the same gun.....

but mine is all stainless steel.I don't know the answer but i'm interested in the responces here as well. I plan on useing " DoubleTap Ammo. " for my defence load.It has the highest non +P velocity rateing for their 230 gn. Gold Dot bullet.[1100fps.]:D
I also have sent $28.00 to Buffer Technologies for a recoil buffer kit.
I also have installed a Hogue Rubber Grip-All to my pistol's handle.
These well help with high velocities from +P or " hot " ammo. loadings.;)

I believe that all SIGs are rated to handle +P loads and not void the warranty. If you still have the instruction booklet that came with the gun, it should explain this. Handloads and +P+ stuff will void warranty if you damage your gun.

Check the manual here if you don't still have it:

Page 7, point 3:
Always use ammunition that complies with the performance standards
established by the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute, Inc.
of the United States (SAAMI).

There are SAAMI specs for +P but not for +P+. You should be just fine.

I've got Doubletaps in both of my SIGs.

Go online and order

a box of 50 for $26.00 from DoulbeTap Ammo.Com
230 gn.Gold Dot HP's are what you want.
They are very,very HOT !!

:fire:  :fire:  :fire:

Shoot three mags of +P to verify they function in the gun and to get used to them. Practice with regular range and defensive ammo.

As you carry the gun, remember to avoid switching the round that was in the chamber for the top round on the magazine. The rule I use is that it goes into the chamber twice: once for defense, and once to be shot. I clean my gun fairly often and so accumulate defensive ammo that has seen the chamber once. Once I get a full magazine of "once chambered" JHPs, I shoot them for practice and familiarization.

The reason for this rule is to prevent bullet setback. This means that the bullet can get pushed back into the brass, causing dangerous increases in pressure. Avoid bullet setback! Rotate your defensive ammo!
