i am looking into purchase of a sig, i want sub-compact (for carry- assuming i will get it) and i wanted some prices that i could expect to pay, i do not have a problem with used
i live in new york if it matters
in .40 or .357 sig

P229R DAK

P229

also what is th difference beside the light rail?

There is a significant difference in the trigger actions between the DAK and the standard 229. The DAK is a double-action only trigger with a 6.5 lb pull on every shot. It's sort of a cross between a Glock and a standard trigger.

There's also a fairly significant price difference!

You say you want a sub-compact, the P229 isn't a sub compact. The P239 is a compact but I don't think it would qualify as a sub-compact. I own both by the way. I believe the only sub compact in the sig line is the P232 which is in .380.
If you really want a sub-compact, try the Kahr line or Glock. Most sub-compacts are in .380.

I recently bought a new SIG 229 w/night sights for $650 locally, but they're in the $725+ range most reasonably-priced shopss around here. BTW, the 229 is not a sub-compact; it's a bit of a chunky bugger.

I paid $470 for a CPO P229 in .40 S&W from Ordnance Outsellers. Came with two 12 round mags. The gun could pass for new, that's how good it is. I don't know if all CPO's are like that but James at Ordnance Outsellers is a standup guy to deal with.

I bought a regular 229 a couple weeks back on sale at Sportsmen's Warehouse. $629 new, though I would be comfortable with a CPO, as they seem to be the hottest deal on the block right now. I've never tried the DAK trigger, but if the DA pull on my 229 is anything to go by, I'm sure it's like running a finger through room-temp butter. I prefer having a good SA trigger on my pistols too, and the SIG fills that department nicely, slightly better than an HK IMO. A bit of creep and a good snap at the end.

I think that CDNN and SOG had some used police trade in guns in the $300-400 range.

At any rate, if you are looking for a used SIG they can usually be found around here for about $450-550.

Reagrsd,
Rob
