Hey Guys

I am going to buy purchasing one of these two pistols and would like your opinion on what you would buy.

I am looking for a pistol for both home defense and CC.

The sig comes with the standard stuff(.357 SP2340), but the XD(.40) comes with tactical holster and vest.

Thoughts?

Thank You!

Price is not a factor here. I am looking for reliability and be able to carry easily.

This will be my primary weapon to protect myself and my family.

The SIG is a better gun, I would get that. Holsters and all that shouldn't be a deciding factor. You may not actually like the one supplied.

357 SIG is a very powerful round, but is somewhat pricey unless you reload. Keep in mind that SIG pistols can be converted between 40 and 357 by only changing the barrel.

You aren't going to use the included holster for carry, though it's nice to have something convenient like that at the range so you always have a place to set the pistol down.

Personally I'd rather have the 2340 over the XD, but I'd get a Glock 26 over either for carry. Or a 27/33 if you really want a .40 or .357.

Basically any manufacturer's .40 and .357 will be identical, so the ability to swap barrels out to give you a two-caliber gun isn't really a point in favor of any specific .40, all of them can do that.

Either of the two you have settled on will be a reliable choice that will shoot well and you will likely be happy whichever one you get, but the 2340 is a bulkier gun than the XD. Will make a difference in carrying, but a good, purpose-built holster will make more of a difference than anything else.

The SIG is a better gun
Highly subjective. ^

In my book this is an apples and oranges comparison. I alternate between a Sig 239 and an XDm 3.8 Compact as my carry guns. I choose which one I am going to carry based on where I am going and what I will be doing.

If I am going to the range and acting as RSO, I prefer the XDm. Greater capacity, better trigger and based on timer results I am slightly faster with the XDm.

If I going to be running around town where I am likely to encounter No Carry Zones and will have to be taking the pistol out of the holster and moving it to my console then back into the holster, I prefer the added safety of the DA/SA hammer fired platform over Striker fired with a round chambered.

Both carry equally well, I am equally accurate with either and like each equally well. So in the end it really comes down to personal choice.

Hard to believe we couldn't make it past post #4 on an A or B post without G being thrown in.
