For my new pistol i'm trying to choose a good non-glock 357SIG pistol.
Sig Sauer makes excellent pistols (or so I've heard) so which model and barrel length do u guys recommend in 357SIG? How is the mag capacity/sights/ etc?
Thanks.

Well, I carry a P239 in .357 Sig as my daily CCW. I have been carrying this gun for almost 8 years daily. It was originally in .40, and I switched over about a year ago. I'm very pleased.

It is the most accurate handgun I own, at least in my hands. The ergonomics just work out for me in that particular model.

7 rounds in the mag, one in the pipe.

I have the standard sights, but I keep toying with the idea of night sights.

If you are gonna carry it concealed I recommend the 239. If you are not concealing,
then get the larger models.

I've got a P226st in .40s&w.
I think it would be the ideal platform for the 357sig. The stainless frame really soaks up the recoil, and it is just a smooth handling, accurate gun.
My magazines are marked .40s&W/357sig so they will work fine for both calibers.
It is the nicest .40 I've ever fired, I think the same would apply in 357sig. I can't recomend it highly enough.

I'm crazy about my P229 in 357sig. It's my daily carry for almost 5 years now. My brother has an equally nice, yet different, P226 in 357sig that he likes as much.

Smooth, dependable, and to me, not overly heavy...and I'm a skinny dude. Of course it's accurate...like a laser.

I also own a P220 and a P225. They're like children in a way; I love them equally but differently.

Regards,
Rabbit.

I would recommend the 12rd P229 or the 13rd P226.

In .40/.357, the P229 and P226 are both the same capacity, with 12rd magazines. I own both a P226 and a P229ST... they are both chambered in .40. The .40 and .357 barrels are drop-in interchangable. The mags are marked for both .40 and .357. The only difference between .40 P226's and .357 P226's from the factory (aside from the barrel) is a slightly different height front sight post. likewise with P229s.

Both are fine guns. They handle very similarly. The 239 is a bit small for my hands. I'd recommend just handling all three, and get the one that feels best to you and lines up with your intended use the best. All three are fine pistols.

Here is a 229 sport, (on top) which is one of my most fun just "play" guns. Accurate, powerful, and very easy to shoot. It makes you look like you are a much better shot then you really are. It is in 357 sig, and is a great choice. If you have not seen them, they are factory tuned with an excellent trigger, comped barrel and special mags with a finger grip.

The gun on the bottom is its big brother (my other stainless gun) a 44 Automag, but that is another story.

I have to agree with TexasSIGman. I too carry a .40 S&W Sig P239 as my daily IWB CCW. Its single stack design helps make it a very comfortable IWB carry gun and its relatively light weight makes it comfortable as a OWB gun if you don’t mind the limitation of 7+1 rounds. It also is, as TexasSIGman states, very easy to upgrade to a .357 Sig with just a simple barrel swap. As for accuracy, my Sig shoots just as accurate as my 1911. This weapon is definitely and ideal option if want a carry gun.

I have a Sig P229 that is a blast to shoot (no pun intended). I used to stay away from the Sig Sauer pistols because I didn't like the way that they felt, then I got a deal on the P229 that I couldn't pass up. Now it's one of my favorite handguns. I guess you can teach an old dog a new trick.

I have both Glock and SIG pistols in 357 SIG. I prefer the SIG because it handles the round better than anything else I've fired in that caliber. I have a P229 and love it. 12 rounds in a compact pistol is not bad at all. The sights are nice, but I prefer the three dot style, as opposed to the "dot the i" style that comes stock. Recoil is minimal and everyone seems to enjoy shooting it.

Go for a 229R :D

That's my next gun. I've been carrying a 226/9mm for a while. I'm going for the 229R in 9mm for my next carry gun. I'm just looking for something a little smaller, and the 229's rep speaks for itself. If there were problems the Fed's would have found them by now.

With the MecGar mags I already have for my 228 I'll still have 15rds in a smaller package.
