Does anybody know what the correct front and rear sights look like for a Winchester Model 70 30-06, serial no 18245, made in 1939. This rifle was used with a scope and carried in a scabbard and is missing the sights.

Thanks, Steve

It is the type that has spring steel spotted on to a piece that slips in the dovetail and lays back a couple of inches. It has a front to back slot and a notched piece slips backward and forward in this slot to increase or decrease elevation. The V is on the back and you can move it left and right by tapping it left or right in the dovetail.

Have no idea what you call it.I have one around here somewhere but can't find it or i would post a picture. You may find an original on Gunbroker you can look at.

Hey,I just looked .There is a nice one on Fleabay. Already up to $51.
