I am still trying to learn signs of over pressure on primers. Both of these were fired from same gun. Does the primer on the bottom show signs of over pressure or is it just the difference in hardness of two different brands of primers?

Here is a clearer picture....

The close up picture is sure fuzzy wuzzy. Best I can tell, it looks OK to me.

I don't see excess pressure in any of them.

BUT that doesn't mean you aren't over pressure for 45acp.
This same primer is also used in cartridges with MUCH higher pressures.
You can't simply read the primer. To stay safe, you
stick with published load data and you should be just fine.

Reading primers is kinda screwy for low pressure cartridges.
By the time the primer tells you something, it's already too late.

Thanks, Ants. I am at the lower end of load data and don't see any other signs of over pressure. It just looked different and I wanted to make sure. thanks again!

Think about primers:

A standard Large Rifle primer goes in 30-30 (42,000 psi max) and 30-06 (60,200 max) and 270 Win (65,000 psi).

Yet, it is supposed to 'know' how to flatten in the 30-30 when it exceeds 42,000 psi,
but wait until 60,200 to flatten in a 30-06, but be smart enough to wait until 65,000psi in a 270.

Boy, that's one smart primer cup you got there!

... Or maybe reading primers is just one variable among many.
Don't use it as the only feedback, it isn't smart enough for that.
