Sig's Mosquito

Someone is going to have to tell my wife that hers doesn't work. It needs HV stuff, but it only hiccuped with CCI Blazer. It really sings with Velocitor.

Mine is almost a year old, but flawless as long as I feed it Mini Mags. Tried almost every other brand and it didn't like them at all. It looks really nice compared to most other .22LRs too and I like the trigger. I've read some complaints about it, but have no issue with mine. Maybe I got a weird one or something..

Two colleagues have them, and they're jam-o-matics that are very picky about ammo.

When Ruger MK3's, Ruger 22/45's, and Browning Buckmarks exist, I don't see why anyone would bother with guns that are picky about ammo (i.e. the Mosquito).

My 22/45 functions more or less flawlessly (i.e. I'll get one failure to fire in a while, but that's an ammo issue) with cheap bulk pack ammo. I bought a .22 so I could fire the cheapest ammo I could find. I wouldn't put up with one that was picky.

Have one that was built in 2005 (IIRC) that is very reliable.

It's my pimp suppressor gun -- considering it is one of the two tone mosquitoes.

Handles bulk back federal and subsonics (cci) just fine.

Between my dad and me we have four Ruger .22lr pistols. Mk 1s and Mk2s. We also have a Buckmark.

He saw the Sig Mosquito and expressed an interest in it. His B-Day is coming up. I knew that the Mosquitos have had some issues in the past, just checking to see if Sig got the bugs worked out or not....

My Mosquito is about a year old. It's not too fussy about ammo, even likes Walmart Federal milk carton loads. The main problem is the trigger from hell, The only thing I've got that is comparable is a Mosin-Nagant made during WWll and from what I've been able to find out, there isn't much that can be done to improve it.

A friend of mine got one about 6 months ago and It wouldnt run with anything that comes in bulk packs. We swapped out springs but nothing helped. I dont buy .22's to shoot minimags I wanna shoot the cheap stuff. Anyway he sold it for a buckmark which is an awesome pistol.

Funny Thing

Take a look at the thread about the most unreliable pos handgun you have ever owned/shot. Lots of Kimbers, Colts and Rugers.. Hard to find a Mosquito on the list..

P.R.

Early skeeters had more issues. Mine shoots a couple of higher end brand .22s not so well on real cheap stuff but it's a plinker not a target pistol. Some of the issues with jams are user initiated - putting in the recoil spring backwards, using the wrong spring for the wrong ammo, not lubing it enough...

Mine is fun, reliable but it is what it is...

In my experience, the Mosquito's have been finicky at best. On the other hand, the conversion kits made for the P226 and P229 are dang near indestructible. Also, you can get them threaded which is a major perk to me.

I got a mosquito a few years back, at first it had some issues with bulk ammo, and so we would put just CCI in it, now it does ok with bulk but it is great with CCI. it's what i tought my girlfriends to shoot on and he was reluctant to give it up.
