Hi everyone if you paid 3k for a AR(RRA) would you shoot wolf through it? Went to range today the guy next to me had a decked out AR and was bragging about the amount he paid for it and shooting wolf ammo, would wolf ammo mess up firing pin in a AR rifle?

That's sort of a non sequitur -- let me prove how dumb I am by pointing it out to you!
Lots of people have fired plenty of Wolf ammo and have had no problems. With the prices of ammo these days, it's becoming pretty popular. The guy probably spent so much on the over-priced rifle that he can't afford to shoot anything else.

I've just seen too many problems with Wolf to trust it; plus I like to shoot for accuracy as well as do dynamic shooting. Wolf is fine for 50yds and in shooting; but not good for accuracy. I don't believe Wolf will hurt your firing pin, though the fouling it generates is impressive.
I tend to think that the fouling has something to do with a different expansion of the steel case. Both the polymer and lacquer coated Wolf seem to get stuck in the chamber and cause extraction/ejection problems. I am not sure what else it could be... I know it isn't just the steel cases though because the Hornady steel cased practice ammo is supremely reliable.

I don't like Wolf... but I have shot plenty of steel cased ammo in AR15's without any bad effects on my weapons.
Steel cased ammo isn't my favorite, and specifically Wolf is not my favorite... because it's not very accurate and I have seen just too many blown primers with it. I'll admit, I still shoot it occasionally in some of my Russian guns...
At any rate, I have built some freakin sweet AR15's for family and friends, with all the bells and whistles, and I have yet to see the price get above $3K... maybe he just got ripped off.

I haven't used Wolf and I don't have an AR. But I have shot Bernaul Brown Bear, both .223 and x39, in two cz rifles with no problems at all that I can see. Accuracy seems good to me but it is not match ammo. But for 20 cents a pop I say enjoy the rifles all I can, that's what I bought them for.

$3k sounds expensive for an RRA Elite; but you can easily build a $3k AR if you count accessories. Hell, an S&B Short Dot is $2k on its own... throw it in a $225 Larue mount and you don't need a very expensive AR to beat $3k.

I (we) got my DPMS AR M4gery so hot shooting wolf steel case ammo that a fired case got stuck in the chamber...that's the only reason I could think of not to shoot wolf. My father and brother were visiting and we kept taking turns shooting and loading mags. I think on the 7th or 8th 30rnd mag of continuous fire the rifle was HOT and a case failed to eject. I knew what had happened and we set it aside and shot our handguns for a while.

I won't shoot Wolf through either of my Stag's or my Mini-14. I'd rather spend a little more on Federal American Eagle.

The internet rumor is that the steel cased wolf will break the fragil AR extractor (the firing pin hits the primer--which I'm pretty sure aint steel).
I'd think if I spent that much on rifle (that alone is a pretty BIG if), I'd expect it could shoot any commercial ammo through it.
And I usually brag about how little I spend on a given item, not how much.

+1 on the American Eagle, good and cheap.
I shoot Wolf through my ARs with chrome lined barrels and chambers only. The steel cases are way to hard on stainles steel barrels and will prematurely wear them.
Wolf is not accurate and I don't use it for any serious target shooting.
I have never had a problem with it personally but have had a few customers with extraction problems.
I had one guy shoot a squib round in his Glock 19 and then pull the trigger on the next round, wanna guess what happened next?

in an ak, yes, made for that stuff. in an AR, no. unless it is wolf brass line.

Wolf is the only ammo that would choke my glocks every time I shot it...I don't like it at all!
