SKS from J&G - worth the $40 premium for "like new"?

Do you want it for a shooter or collector? For a collection, you want the best condition (depending on other factors, like matching parts or mfg. date) possible. However, the M59/66's that are in best condition have been rebuilt, so that actually may hurt collector value-it just "depends."
For a shooter, personally, I woundn't pay an extra $40.
Also, take a look at Southern Ohio Gun. My current catalog has them at $149/good $159/excellent.

I go to J&G on almost a weekly basis since I live only a few miles away.
They grade their rifles pretty well and you get what you pay for. If you want something that is cosmetically pretty and in the finest condition then get the "like new" ones. However their lesser grade models are fine also if you just want something to shoot and maybe restore yourself. All of their guns are inspected by their gunsmith and although I've never ordered online from them before I would trust that what they send you will be a fine shooter.
I've been thinking of picking up one of their Yugos myself, since I can inspect them personally I'll probably grab one of their "good condition" grades while they are on sale and pay the hand select fee. If I were to order one online or by phone I wouldn't hesitate to go with the "very good" model. I don't need a pretty Yugo......
I already have a gorgeous unfired Russian that fills that need
The way I see it go with the "very good" model if all you want is a fun shooter and put that extra $40 towards some extra ammo.
