SKS yugo: Grenade Launcher question

Hey guys, quick question. Does the grenade launcher on the m59/66 yugo SKS protect the crown of the barrel?

My rifle gets thrown around and dinged alot. The crown is still the part of the barrel right, not the launcher?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Right, as an added bonus, the launcher acts like a heat sink, drawing heat away from the barrel.
