I apologize in advance since this question probably gets asked a lot but can anyone tell my if my Colt Match Target Comp HBAR II is a small or large pin lower? I bought it in 1999 if that matters. I have no means to measure it and I'm looking to get an aftermarket trigger. Even a link to a good resource would be much appreciated so I can look this up myself, I've had no luck finding one so far.

Also feel free to throw in your two cents on a recommendation for a trigger as well. I'm looking at a Jard 3# single stage right now.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Should be a large pin lower.

ar15.com has an virtual torrent of information.

You can get adaptor pins from bushmaster to allow the use of small hole uppers.

Might want to make sure yours takes standard diameter trigger and hammer pins, and if you have the lower receiver block you may be out of luck for replacing the trigger.

Good luck!

And remember that should you decide to install a .250" upper on your rifle using the offset pivot pin, when installing, always install the takedown pin first and the screw the offset pin down.
When taking the rifle down always remove the offset pin first and then punch out the rear takedown pin.

You can't just pop the takedown pin and fold the rifle open like a break action shotgun, you have to completely seperate the two halves.

If you don't do this while using an offset pivot pin, you run the very real risk of applying too much torque on the lower receiver pivot pin holes and they can and do break away from the receiver.

Actually I feel it shouldn't even be called an offset pivot pin.
Offset securing pin would be better.
