So, it's hunting season, seemingly the worst possible time to have a plunger tube work loose -- all the smiths are too busy to stake a new one on for you!

Anyone know of a smith in the Birmingham area who would be willing to take on this five-minute job? Spending $40 for the tools for a simple one-time repair seems silly.

Anyone?

Anyone?

Bueller?

Loose Tube

If your left grip panel has the cut that covers part of the tube, you can do an expedient fix that'll hold it until you can find a smith with the tool.

Loosen the grip screw enough to slip a narrow strip of cardboard between the top of the grip panel and the tube. Something about the thickness of a
business card. Tighten the grip screw, and use a sharp knife blade...an exacto knife is good...to trim the excess. Be careful not to mar the finish on the tube.

I did this one on one of my range guns sometime last year, and it held so well that I haven't bothered to stake it. Can't stake it until I get a round tuit...

I'm going to LFI-I next month, so I'd like to get a proper fix in place prior to that.

I will definitely file this advice for future reference, though. Thanks!
