The inside cover of the latest American Rifleman has a Smith & Wesson Ad which has pictures of Models 642, 637 in .38 Special, and also pictures of the Airweight 431 and 432 in .32 H&R.

Are they making revolvers in .32 H&R again? They aren't shown on the S&W website yet.

My local dealer has the hammered new version, 432PD I think, for $339. It is a black Airweight with a blued steel six hole cylinder. Looks nice... and, it could share ammo with my seven shooter that will also shoot .32 S&WL/H&R, albeit that they stick in the chambers after bulging their cases. Yeah, my 'other' .32 is actually a Nagant 1895... too hard to find the correct ammo, most just use the smallish cased .32's.

The Airweight .32 is neat... and, even Ruger has been advertising it of late as a 'Lady's' Vaquero round.

The M 432 makes some sense. .32 H&R mag gives 85% of the energy delivered by .38 spec. with around 50% of the recoil, as they say.

I'd like to see S&W start making the M 332 Sc/Ti AirLite again at a better price.

I wish they'd make a .32H&R with a shrouded hammer, like the 638. I've been waiting for one for decades.

I think the best you could do with S&W is to have a gunsmith bob the hammer on a M 431, or settle for an internal hammer M 432.

I've seen add-on shrouds for D-frames. Presumably they exist for Js... it sounds relatively easy to make. (For a gunsmith).

My concern is the whole idea of blued carry guns. I guess they might be OK if you live in a place with no humidity or oxygen (Tibet? I think even there you get condensation at night... and of course there's sweat...)

I purchased a brand new Model 432, .32 H&R Magnum in July. Burrs on the ratchet scarred the recoil shield and this particular gun was also out of time. This was a NIB Smith revolver! Needless to say, I was very disappointed and traded it on NIB 638.

I haven't seen them yet, will have to keep an eye out!

Pretty nice .32 H&R right here.........

Bring back the Smith & Wesson .32 H&R MAGs

Edited to add : This is an old thread (2004), but thought it would be a good launching point for a consumer product request.

This is a great caliber for the recoil sensitive and for those that just like a lightweight and a softer shooter.

I won't say do it for the kids, but, do it for the old folks and the handicapped.

I personally know 5 people who need this caliber in a light package. All are senior citizens that want to carry a self defense revolver, but are neglecting practice because of recoil.

I'll buy two myself. One for the mom. One for introducing new shooters and for me to enjoy as well.

A lightweight (under 18oz) 2" would fit the bill IMO.

THR members, please share your thoughts and comments ... I will forward this thread to S&W after a few posts.

S&W .32

I have the 31 3" that shoots great. If they start making them again I will buy another one for my daughter.

I think they're a great compromise with 6 shots versus 5 and more pleasant to practice with than an Airweight .38. I'd like to have one myself.

I was just getting ready to purchase the S&W 431 when they stopped making them - I ended up with a Ti Taurus model 731 which they also don't make anymore ! They do make the 731 in aluminum frame yet.

I would have prefered the S&W but when I had my dealer check there were none in several distributors inventory. I think S&W gave up on them a little too early . I haven't heard of them building them again and suspect the ad was outdated for the new magazine. I like the lightweight gun for carry and the mild recoil for the energy produced.

It is a great caliber for recoil sensitive or those handicaped by arthrisis . I shoot .32 S&W longs for banging around and pratice ,and carry with the magnum rounds.

I've been looking at that Taurus 731. The website shows they still make it. ????

Taurus does still make the Model 731 , just not the titanium version. Mine is a total titanium version with no barrel porting.

The present version being produced is aluminum and stainless with barrel ports. This gun is 4 oz. heavier than the total titanium version at 17 oz. vs the 13 oz TT version. Hope that clears it up.

I like my M 731 Ti and I have two other Taurus wheel guns as well. They are OK , but typically the S&W is better refined - particularly internaly , and I still prefer the S&W guns .
