Smith & Wesson Revolver

Hello everyone. New to this forum.

I recently found my deceased father's Smith & Wesson .38 Special that has a 6" barrel with these designation under the butt of the handle: C 374868. It has 5 screws with the silver S&W emblem on both sides of the wooden handles.

I think it's a K-Frame series...(but not sure) which I've been told was for the Military & Police.

Can anyone tell more about when it was made from this information?

Yes, it sounds like an M&P. That serial number would place it made in 55/56.

Worth + or - $350.00.
