I think he would qualify as a designated marksman for all inted purposes.

That rifle is the M14DMR from what I can tell, which puts him rougly between a sniper and your average infantryman as far as duties and capabilities I suppose.

hey, uummm i must be sorta dumb here. but the rifle looks to me like a springfield m25. doenst look much like a remington.

Pretty close.

It is the M-14, and Springfield Armory makes a civilian version called the M-1A.

The military has started to issue some M-14s to designated marksman, which is almost like a sniper, but not quite.
