Snubnose War

While I'm not particularly a fan of the Agent, I'll take a Colt over a Smith anytime. Most days I have a Detective Special in my pocket.

I do too, at least some of the time. But I would have serious second thoughts about this particular revolver.

As for making a choice. One should first decide how they are going to use and what method of carry will be employed concerning the perspective purchase; and I wouldn't limit the choice to only two guns unless I absolutely had to. If it were me I would be doing a lot more window shopping.

I understand. Too bad you don't live (or assigned to a post) in Arizona

Anyway I would still suggest that you wait until the right gun comes into the picture. Otherwise you will likely end up selling or trading (whatever) and taking a loss. You still need to evaluate how you are going to carry it, and take into consideration the Texas statute that requires it must be concealed! Thus size and weight do matter, as well as a covering garment (or whatever) to be used in hot Texas summers.

FOR THE MONEY you are paying. A few more dollars and go new.

At those prices neither. If you must go with the Smith.

I would and recently did buy a S&W model 64. I had been talking to a guy on a local forum for 2+ years and finally in April it worked out and I bought it. I really like it. While its not as balanced as my 3" 65 or my 4" 13 I really like it. I paid him $400 which I thought was fair for a k frame snub and he surprised me with a 50 rd box of Speer gold dot 38 short barrel. I had heard of them but they had always escaped me so it was it was a pleasant surprise

Even if they were the same price, I'd take the Model 64 any day of the week. Now you get to save $100 and blow it on ammo or a nicer holster!

Those Smith K frame snubbies are just about the perfect carry guns!

If the Agent were a DS I'd be torn but Agent vs 64 no contest. you're making the right choice.

I ( being an idiot) traded my talo edition sp101 snub nose. So Im officially in the market for a ccw revolver. I have two choices a colt agent fairly used for 500 or smith and wesson model 64 2 inch barrel for 400. the 64 has only been fired 25 times since the 80s. dont have a pic of it but ive inspected it already, have not seen the agent. So help me choose , colt namesake though decently used, or smith smoothness almost new?

Get the 64. It can use +P ammo any day but the aluminum framed Colt can't.

My 2 inch 64 is at the bottom in the picture above besides the Speed Six on one side and the S&W 2 1/2 inch 686 on the other.

It was my second carry gun, the first being the 640 .38 spl. I also own that is on the other side of the Speed Six!

The 64, no contest. Stainless>blued steel in a carry gun, much as I love my blued steel S&W Kframes, and much as I loved my DS. K frame is a tough gun, great size, you will like/love it.
