So, how many firearms did you destroy today for 'International Gun Destruction Day'?

I am sending this to Amnesty International

Thank you for bringing to my attention the "International Gun Destruction Day". In honor of this lunacy, I have made the following acquisitions all within a week of July 9th.

* Para Ordnance P14.45 LDA Limited
* Springfield 1903A3 (manufactured by Remington and in really cherry condition..by the way, sold to me by a department of the US Government)
* No 4 Mk I Enfield

By the way, regarding your press release:

* One arm per ten people? Why that's ridiculous...I have over 30 guns and I'm only one person.

* In a similar fashion, 2 rounds per person...you can't shoot with that at all...I have over 4000 rounds of 7.62x51mm alone!! I have over 8 calibers in my armory so you can imagine the stockpile!

Anyway, enjoy your celebration...I've certainly enjoyed my response.

Weapons in the wrong hands cause hundreds of thousands of deaths and many more casualties every year. Unregulated guns are involved in crime, killings, forced displacement, rape and torture across the world.

And weapons in the right hands prevent hundreds of thousands of deaths and many more casualties every year. Hard-working, law-abiding citizens use them to prevent crime, killings, forced displacement, rape and torture across the world.

Eve of Destruction

After reading this, I was so moved that I plan on puttin' all of mine
to the torch...Don't want the evil, filthy things around me any more.
I expect everybody here to follow my lead and join the ranks of the
progressive and enlightened folks who spoke up and took a stand
against all those violent, out of control guns. We simply can't have those things layin' around in vaults, layin' their evil plans to destroy the world.

Let's do it for the children! Let's do it for the whales! Let's do it for
the spotted owls! Let's do it so we can all live in peace, forevermore
unafraid of the scourge that is worse than the Black Plague!

Come on! Let's just do it!

I have to admit.....everytime I give a certain CZ-52 of mine a dirty look more rust appears on the backstrap. I guess maybe I'm doing my part.

Far from destroying old and surplus weapons, most states resell their surplus weaponry thus ensuring the ever-increasing proliferation of guns across the world.

And I thank them for leting me buy 3 guns for $350. Quality guns, as well. Cant beat the price to quality ration on some of the old military guns

...marking my calendar for July 5th, 2005. IF we still have a Constitution and an intact Bill of Rights at that point, I'll buy another gun. If not---I'll buy one anyway, since I'll need lots of them at that point. <KIDDING!> :)

I'd like a movement in the pro-RKBA groups to

Have a "enroll in a gun class" day.
Have a "practice with your favorite firearm" day.
Have a "teach someone firearm safety" day.

So my personal response to "International Gun Destruction Day" is - 1) I coached at a high power rifle clinic this last Saturday. 2) Educated a couple folks on the folly of the AWB, its potential renewal/expiration 3) Will try to get in a CCW class in the next couple of months and of course 4) buy another!

Only three countries in the world (Nigeria, Latvia and South Africa) have a policy of destroying all surplus or confiscated weapons.

Yes, of course, Nigeria, Latvia, and South Africa, the sole lights of truth, liberty, and justice, in a dark world.:barf:

Approximately 14 billion rounds of military ammunition are made every year -- two bullets for every person.
That is just HORRIBLE! I mean, how can you perform a successful Mozambique with only two bullets??

Jeez, I wish I'd known. I would have done my part by destroying several hundred rounds of ammunition!

:barf: :barf: :barf: :barf:

It just so happens that on July 9th I stopped by my local shop and the owner had a newly-acquired used SA revolver calling out to me. Had I known what day it was, I would have purchased something else to commemorate the day. Once the damn 10-day wait period is over, I will have to really celebrate with a few boxes of ammo. There must have been some cosmic reason that I happened by on that particular day.

:neener: :neener: :neener:

:D
On the 9th I did my part by disposing of 20 rounds of .308 (breakin' in), 150 shotgun shells (or so) and around 200 rounds of .45 "Kop Killa" bullets. Everyday should be ammo disposal day for all the nations big and small. Keep crime off the streets by using up excess ammo so the dirty bad guys can't get to it first!

I hereby declare that the start of the ammo disposal season begins tonite at midnight and goes until July 12, 2005 at 11.50PM (to give 10 minutes for reflection on a great ammo disposal season.) This will continue on indefinately until guns are replaced by phasers and we can partake in fuel-cell disposal season!

This Public Service Announcement brought to you by: things that kick ass.

Jesse James kicks ass you know.

What a hoot!

While these folks were destroying weapons, I preserved one on July 9th by purchasing it off of the used gun rack at my local gun store (and I didn't even know the significance of the day).

A very nice ca. 1975 Marlin 336 in 30-30. I picked it up for $182.50 (after telling them that I would pay no more than $200 including tax.)

Now I need to try to destroy it by expending large quantities of ammo through it.

There are approximately 640 million guns in circulation -- one for every ten people.

This is a very misleading statistic because almost half of those are owned by Tamara.
